Service the client in a timely and respectful manner; meeting or exceeding his or her expectations
Review all contract documents to become familiar with project requirements and obligations under the contract and apply to pricing (schedule, specifications, drawings, safety manual, etc.)
Submit RFIs for estimating questions by deadline
Perform material take off
Develop labels that will later be used as cost codes for construction
Establish a construction schedule to develop manpower for estimate. Include milestones, shutdowns, etc.
Obtain vendor and subcontractor quotes and evaluate for completeness and best price for use in bid (Abide by our purchasing policy and ethics)
Distribute qualification documents as required for the bid (MBE, WBE, experience, key individuals, etc.)
Complete an Excel Front Sheet to generate price
Develop a detailed proposal letter or bid form (If completed by assistant provide ample time)
Upon award notify "direct report" immediately
Generate award documents for review to be submitted by deadline
Identify areas of importance (milestones, LDs, etc.) of a project and relay to PM and Foreman
Identify possible change orders and relay to PM and Foreman
Review purchase orders, subcontracts and contracts for accuracy
Assist in the purchase of materials, services, and subcontracts in accordance with the purchasing policy
Review/approve and/or forward submittals for shop drawings and samples for materials according to project requirements and schedules
Assure complete and thorough pre-construction planning and distribution of all documents in accordance with the pre-construction process
Facilitate a scope review with the PM and Foreman
Attend the pre-construction meeting
Attend project meetings as/if needed
Estimate change order costs. PM to prepare and submit the request to the customer
Coordinate with customers, engineers, vendors, subcontractors, foreman and accounting to facilitate timely and profitable completion of quality projects
Monitor subcontractors and vendors bid performance and take corrective action as needed after review with division vice president
Complete post job process
Refer all potential legal problems concerning projects to division vice president for action
Manage day-to-day customer interaction
Continually increase customer satisfaction and deepen existing relationships
Explore opportunities to establish new customers
Competencies:
Good oral and written English language expression.
Strong communication, organizational, analytical, leadership and relationship skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and work under pressure
Self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision
Manage time efficiently
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel
Proficient in the use of McCormick Estimating Software
Knowledge of manpower loading
Knowledge of general construction practices
Knowledge of Microsoft Projects and/or Primavera a plus
Knowledge of the National Electric Code and NFPA 70E
Consistently completes projects on time (bid date)
Maintains positive relationship with customers, vendors, and subcontractors
Provides effective leadership and has the respect of the project team including Project Management, Accounting, Warehouse, Administration, and Field Personnel
Qualifications:
Education/Experience
o Required:
Associate's Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school.
Three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Qualifications
o Required:
Valid Pennsylvania driver's license required to operate company or personal vehicle for company business.
1. Associate's degree or higher.
2. 3+ years of experience as an Electrical Estimator on construction projects.
3. Local or close enough for a short easy move.
