The Challenge
We're looking for an experienced Electronics Technician to be our Lead Technician handling inspection, installation, repair & maintenance of electrical & electronic control and power components associated with movable span bridges , including:
3-phase standby generators with output voltages of 120/208Vac - 277/480Vac
Automatic transfer equipment and utility power company distribution systems
Communication systems
Electronically controlled elevators
Fire alarm systems
Low voltage DC controls
Programmable logic controllers (PLCS)
120/240 volts AC controls
Variable speed motor drives

You will be the lead bridge control technician in our emergency response and repair of electrical and electronics portions of movable span bridges and fixed span bridges over navigable waters. You will be working in confined spaces, climbing bridge structures, working from aerial & under-bridge equipment, and navigating and working from a boat.
New Bern will be your base of operations, although work will be required statewide.

You will also be handling the inspection, installation, repair & maintenance of conventional & solar powered navigational lighting, roadway lighting on bridges. You will need to be on call 24/7. Based on the nature of work performed, the role may require appropriate licensure by the governing board or commission.

Preference will be given to applicants with NC Electrical Contractor's License. Movable bridge experience preferred.

What You Bring
Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, ladder logic control diagrams & equipment manuals.
Skills using standard test equipment to diagnose & repair electronic components
Knowledge of principles and practices in the installation, revision, repair and maintenance of electrical and electronic traffic control systems
Ability to plan, schedule and perform work assignments effectively with minimal technical supervision
Experience applying principles in the MUTCD, NC DOT Standard Specifications, NC DOT Roadway Drawings and the National Electric Code
Considerable knowledge of the National Electrical Code, AASHTO and Federal Regulations pertaining to movable and fixed bridge navigational lighting.
Strong knowledge of modern electrical materials and equipment with the ability to review plans and materials.
Skills diagnosing electrical system failures and initiating repairs, directing, planning and supervising the installation of electrical and electro-mechanical equipment and establishing expectations and clear direction to meet goals and objectives.
Effective oral and written communications.

Education & Experience
Associate's degree in Electronics and 2 years experience in the repair and maintenance of complex electronic systems including some responsibility for the design of electronic apparatus; or
An equivalent combination of training and experience.
