JCC Early Childhood Camp(s) Director ~ Seasonal

The Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey and family of agencies are all dedicated to building a vibrant and inclusive Jewish Community and to enhancing the well-being of the Jewish population in southern New Jersey, Israel and throughout the world.

Job Description:
Early Childhood Camps is a combination of day camp for 2 different age groups. Sun & Fun serves children ages 2 through 2.5 and Kindercamp serves children ages 2.5 through 6. These camp programs run simultaneously and are 8 week sessions. This position includes pre-camp planning, overall management of the program throughout the summer, and is housed at the Katz JCC Cherry Hill within the Sari Isdaner Early Childhood Center.

• Work with Director of Early Childhood Education to create a fun and rewarding early camp experience for young children.
• Staffing; interviewing, hiring, counselor contracts, training, supervising and evaluation of Early Childhood Camp staff.
• Work with program administrator to create bunks, set daily activities schedules, organize specials and special performances and contracts.
• Collaborate with summer chef on daily lunches.
• Maintain relationships with Early Childhood Administrative staff, head counselors, and JCC health and wellness pool staff.
• Strong computer skills, administrative and organizations skills; proficient in Microsoft Word and all MS Office applications.
• Inspire counselors and campers to think creatively, critically and innovatively.
• Create weekly camp themes and coordinated activities; overall camp theme.
• Provide oversight and instruction for counselors; work effectively with fellow team members and collaborate on daily responsibilities.
• Ability to plan and manage own work flow, prioritize and results accomplished.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Strong early childhood knowledge.
• Responsible for safety and well-being of all campers dealing with any behavioral issues, contacting parents when issues arise.
• Maintain relationship with Director of Early Childhood Education, early childhood administration, camp head counselors and counselor teams, maintaining effective communication for a fun and learning camp environment.
• Parent Contact: Return phone calls and emails in a timely manner, answer questions, keep parents informed and involved prior to and throughout summer.
• Marketing & Publicity: Attend camp fairs, open houses, holiday events, and other year-round programs to help market camp.

Undergraduate degree, early childhood experience and camping experience required.
