Job Description
Responsibilities include:
• Developing and managing processes to drive compliance with all Single-Family Business and corporate risk management frameworks.
• Applying sound judgment in the evaluation of risks and controls, including effectively challenging the identification and acceptance of risks and the adequacy of controls
• Facilitating discussions during Risk and Control Self-Assessments to ensure appropriate evaluation of risks and documenting self-assessments in a comprehensive and cohesive manner
• Routinely communicating and interacting with Officers and Directors on operational risk matters concerning several functional areas and/or divisions
• Analyzing, documenting and monitoring operational events and issues. Ensure timely entry of updates in the system.
• Performing effective root cause analysis by identifying control gaps and weaknesses, analyzing impacts, and recommending corrective actions as appropriate
• Monitoring status of audit and testing activities and providing updates to divisional leadership, as well as facilitating interactions with auditors and testers as needed
• Promoting an effective risk management culture by developing programs to increase risk and control awareness and understanding for business partners
• Identifying and reporting key risk and operational control indicators
• Hiring, supervising, developing and mentoring staff
Qualifications
• 10+ years of experience in managing operational risk for a financial services organization
• Direct experience managing risk in the First Line of Defense is highly desirable
• 5+ years of relevant people management experience required, including direct experience managing in a cross-functional environment
• Direct experience communicating and presenting to senior executives
• 5+ years of experience in risk advisory, compliance or audit is preferred
• Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience required. Advanced degree preferred
• Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Office skills
• Solid understanding of COSO and Sarbanes-Oxley
• Prior experience in the primary or secondary mortgage industry is desirable

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to succinctly present complex subject matter; ability to facilitate large group discussions
