PJ Library Community Connector ~ Part-time

A PJ Library Community Connector will gauge interests, needs, and opportunities and promotes experiences that further friendships and help families connect Jewishly. The Community Connector nurtures relationships by developing and implementing small-scale outreach and engagement programming, connecting families to one another and the Jewish community of Southern NJ. This programming will begin at the very earliest stages of a child’s life in public, secular spaces, and will maximize social connections over time among these families. This is a grant funded position.

Under the guidance of an in collaboration with the Family Outreach Coordinator a Community Connector will:
• build authentic relationships, create new, barrier-free Jewish experiences, expand communities, and impart relevant Jewish content to Jewish families with children ages newborn through 5 years old
• Contact parents in the PJ Library database in targeted locations, explaining programs and identifying interests and needs
• Identify and meet with core groups of parents to participate in local neighborhood programming
• Deepen connections through follow up with photos, contact information, Jewish learning components, and invitations to future gatherings.
• Promote and attend community-based PJ Library programs.
• Contribute content to social media about PJ Library on Southern NJ and participate in online conversations with topics of interest to new parents.
• Assist with monthly Community Connector programming including these essential components of:
o Identifying a host-family for each neighborhood experience and facilitating ice-breakers that foster friendships
o Assisting with the design and implementation of Jewish learning programming, sharing parenting resources, and highlighting opportunities to further learning and connection
o Following up with photos, contact info and invitations to further connect
• A member of the Southern NJ PJ Library parent community is preferred
• Recent experience with children is preferred
• Knowledgeable about the local community’s resources, both within and outside of the Jewish community
• Excited to meet and welcome parent raising Jewish children and possesses the interpersonal skills to build relationships with them
• An excellent communicator who excels at relationship building
• Outgoing, motivated, highly networked and engaged parent
• Self-driven and able to work independently as well as part of a team
• Comfortable with program planning, social media and Microsoft Office
• Available to work some weekends and/or evenings
