PURPOSE:
To assist the Extrusion Engineering department in the development of all new extrusion tools and tool sampling to enhance all facets of production.

EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:
7-10 years of experience in the Extrusion field, from die design to machine processing/operating.
Knowledge of engineering grade materials, with a strong knowledge of rigid PVC.
A self motivated individual who has knowledge of the plastic extrusion process, materials and set up. Ability to operate and troubleshoot single & twin extruders.
Organized, detail oriented & self-motivated person, logical thinker with the ability to interpret hydraulic, pneumatic and other machinery related diagrams.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. New tooling liaison between Sales Engineering and Production.
2. Assist with the design of all tooling and equipment requirements.
3. Interface with sales on part design, materials and application requirements. and assist in the quotation process when required.
4. Assist in reviewing all completed tooling to ensure all items are present to ensure proper sampling.
5. Handle all facets pertaining to die checks while working in conjunction with production and scheduling. This includes but not limited to ensuring machine availability, correct material, properly working equipment, additional personnel, proper machine and die set up prior to a die check, etc.
6. Sample and report on all die checks, document their status and consult with engineering on any required changes to tool design.
7. When a job is released to production instruct production personnel how to properly set up and run the job, supply them with the correct copies of the Control Plan, full size profile overlay, process sheet, special line equipment, and gages when available.
8. Attend and actively participate in the APQP meetings when applicable. Attend and participate in team meetings.
9. Take a lead role in continuous improvement projects by working with Engineering, Production and Sales.
10. Oversee the Extrusion Maintenance Department.
11. Maintain and support Quality Systems requirements as applicable.
12. Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
