Job Description

A Comfort Consultant/Project Manager will work directly for and answer to the Department Manager.

He/she must have good leadership and people skills in order work well with the installation team which consists of mechanics, office staff and management. As project manager it will be expected to have good problem solving skills and maintain a focus on organization and customer service to provide a positive customer experience.

Must be experienced in fundamental HVAC installation and service practices.

Must be or become knowledgeable primarily with Trane and Mitsubishi product lines and familiar with other product lines such as Rheem. Help to maintain a productive and efficient work force within the HVAC department.

Work to ensure that organization in paperwork is key to success. Positive attitude required to maintain an effective and efficient team.

Project Managers must be able to adapt, be goal driven, possess high stress tolerance, work well under pressure, have good time management and maintain a neat and clean professional appearance as directed by Department Manager.


* Work with lead system to maintain personal calendar
* Receive leads via email pdf, read and research customers prior to appointment
* Always arrive on scheduled appointment time unless key location is noted.
* Review current system with customer and comfort concern checklist
o Document current model/serial number
o Take many pictures for folder
o Go over current rebates, state funded or manufacturer program
o Discuss financing options
o Perform load calculation for proper sizing
o Review ductwork/airflow and document static pressure
o Know jurisdictions, regulations and permit restrictions
o Research AHRI # for appropriate equipment matchups
o Create customized proposals for each client while on site.
o Get quotes from subcontractors for electrical, crane etc

* Perform sales presentation
o To include features and benefits of equipment and services
o Load calculation
o Picture review of ductwork, equipment condition, electrical panel
* Negotiate with clients (not price based)
* Collect 50% after sale is complete and/or fill out credit application for financing
* Discuss schedule with office for a tentative install date
* Order all equipment through appropriate manufacturer and confirm delivery dates.
o Do not order equipment prematurely, stay on top of install schedule
* Submit applications for all permits
* Submit paperwork with home audit subcontractor for any governmental rebate program
* Respond to customer concerns by phone, email and/or in person
* Remain involved in job from beginning, middle and end of project
* Communicate with mechanics during installation process and be available for questions/concerns
* Be receptive to recommendations from mechanics on better installation options.
* Understand proper applications for all HVAC equipment and sizing
* Ensure customer satisfaction at completion by visiting job, reviewing tstat and collecting remaining balance.
* Assume responsibility for every sold job from start to finish
* Follow up on customer issues and complaints

Networking/Sales Responsibilities
* Generate leads through referrals
* Attend trade shows
* Attend Chamber mixers
* Work evening and weekends
* Be available to office/service staff 24/7 for no heat/cool emergencies
* Must be flexible to meet with clients multiple times (weekends and after hours)
* Continuous Training (some overnight stays required)
