Job Description

* Train and coach production line employees.
* Responsible for employee shift schedule to include: work station assignments/rotations, training, vacations, breaks, overtime assignment, back-up for absent, and shift rotations; also is the immediate contact with the staffing agencies when 'temps' are needed.
* Oversee production startups, shutdowns, and changeovers.
* Conduct daily shift meetings.
* Responsible to meet shift production goals.
* Responsible for quality control. Make adjustments as necessary during shift to produce product within specifications. Reject product outside of specifications.
* Operate within 'Quality Plan' procedures and Job Safety requirements.
* Responsible for providing a daily 'summary accounts shift log', then distribute it to Manufacturing; Maintenance Mgr and Plant Mgrs.
* Start up and troubleshoot machines and maintain, molds, materials, and auxiliary equipment, ensuring machines run within operating parameters.
* Safe housekeeping standards are maintained at all times, ensuring a clean and safe work area.
* Stamping machines are set up in the proper manner.
* Quality inspections are conducted per 'quality plan'.
* Set up embossing machine and verify correct plates and foil are used.
* Ensures that all production reports; purchase requisitions; and accident/incident reports are prepared on the correct forms and are properly completed.
* Enter production into Great Plains
* Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
* Ensures that direct report(s) are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated so that the department responsibilities and goals can be accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
* Communicates regularly with all direct report(s), both individually and as a team (if applicable), to ensure good two-way communication concerning progress and other issues.
* Conduct employee performance reviews based on job descriptions to determine competency, knowledge, and contributions. Manages performance issues within company guidelines, working with Human Resources.
* Complies with the Company's Human Resources policies and procedures, and promotes the awareness of, and compliance with, these policies by direct report(s).

Knowledge/Education Required:
High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred. Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required (Related work experience can be substituted for educational requirement.)

Related Experience Required:
* 2 to 5 years of experience in the plastics industry
* Supervisory experience desirable
* A broad base of current technical knowledge to ensure that safety standards are met and efficiencies are maintained.
* Knowledge of the manufacturing processes, procedures, and machinery.
* Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.

Certifications, licenses and or other special requirements:
* Valid Driver's license and good driving record required

Work Conditions:
* Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.
* Must be able to lift, push, pull frequently, and maneuver at least 100 pounds
* Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, and safety toe shoes.
* Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.

1. High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
2. 2+ years of production line experience in the plastics industry.
3. Supervisory experience preferred.
