Responsibilities will include:
-Cluster migration from MS-SQL 2005 to MS-SQL 2008/2012. Configure, migrate to new hardware and manage multiple MS-SQL clusters and MS-SQL standalone servers.
-Vet application compatibility with the approximate 50 database applications that the cluster holds.
-Install, configure, administer and tune MS-SQL 2000 through 2012 database software. Monitor system performance; implement changes as necessary.
-Install, maintain, and perform report creation using SQL Server Reporting Services.
-Provide implementation, architecture and operational support of applications that utilize MS-SQL, including financial management systems and work management systems.
-Develop and implement database backup and recovery plans.
-Develop and maintain integration and interfaces among the City’s applications.
-Provide input on the appropriate application of new database and database monitoring technologies.
-Assist other administrators in the installation, configuration, administration and management of Windows 2003-2012 Servers, VMware servers, and Active Directory.
-Work with departments to generate better reports and assist them in using data allowing them become more efficient and effective.
Provide good customer service to both internal and external customers, maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees (especially members of his or her own team), and have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive.
Experienced in troubleshooting and resolving database problems.
Demonstrated knowledge of SQL Server tools.
Solid knowledge in Windows server security delegations, SPNs, storage components.
Develop and maintain test and production database environments.
Experienced in implementing operational automation using scripts.
Possess good communication and documentation skills.
