• Bachelor’s (BS) degree in electrical engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in test equipment development or product development involving significant test equipment development.
• Knowledge of electronics modeling and drawing practices.
• Low and high voltage DC and AC circuit designs are also required.
• Knowledge of power electronics, integrated circuit design, control system design, programming, LabVIEW a plus. Familiarity with quality-related best practices also a plus.
• Must be able to travel up to 10%.

Job Description

Under direction from the Manager of Advanced Technologies, assist the engineering, manufacturing and technical service teams by developing tests and data collection/test systems to investigate or validate electro-mechanical product performance versus intent or specification. This role may also assist in electronic product or process development.

• Work closely with engineering staff or independently to develop electro-mechanical and electrical tests and test fixtures with appropriate levels of data collection to assist with research, product development or existing product evaluation. Develop test equipment and processes to collect data and analyze essential results. Document results in reports
• Develop and maintain testing infrastructure for current and future R&D lab data collection and test equipment. Estimate costs of development, justify and request capital and expense appropriations, establish a development plan for larger tests/equipment, oversee installation, design and fully document the test equipment and related software, oversee calibration requirements, develop work instructions as appropriate and train personnel on the use/maintenance of the test equipment.
• Assist in the development of products, product performance standards and specifications. Perform complex calculations, analyses and testing to verify assumptions.
• Develop and implement algorithms, including creating, coding, testing and debugging software or interfacing equipment or products with electronic communications.
• Benchmark competitive products and document results.
• Assist in the building of prototype products, test equipment or communication devices.
• Provide assistance with in-field start-ups, training and troubleshooting customer applications as requested; may require travel.
• Train and insure compliance of personnel as appropriate on the safe practices and procedures including but not limited to: proper equipment operation, handling of equipment, electrical safety, high voltage practices, test procedures, troubleshooting, maintenance. Inform manager of any possible safety issues. Participate in company-wide safety standards.
• Other related duties and projects as requested.
