The Director will seek organization and workflow opportunities with staff and providers. He/she will assure that quality improvement targets, nursing care policies and care protocols critical to patient outcomes, experiences, satisfaction, and discharge needs are prioritized, developed, and reviewed with staff, patients and providers. He/she will assure that departmental and hospital-wide goals are supported and reviewed with staff and inter-disciplinary teams involved. Data dashboard(s) will be developed with staff, posted, monitored, problem-solved, and achievements acknowledged regularly. He/she will set goals and objectives for practice standards in collaboration with the Medical Directors for ED/Trauma, Acute-Care Services, and the Chemotherapy Clinic. The Director is responsible for the Level 4 Trauma Designation requirements and serves as a key liaison with the Emergency Management Services (EMS) and community agencies. (i.e. South Peninsula Behavioral Health Services, Inc. and allied providers.)This Director reports to the CNO.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

The position of the Director Acute Care Services requires that the person possesses a current license to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Alaska. 

A minimum of 5 years of experience in emergency and acute-care settings, with 3-5 years of supervisory, and/or management experience required. 

 

Bachelors degree required. The individual in this position must maintain current certifications in BLS and ACLS/PALS. He/she must have the ability to successfully direct staffing resources, facilitate teamwork, prioritize activities, and respond in emergency-disaster-related needs. Speaking, active listening, and good writing skills are required to communicate with personnel and providers at all levels. Experience in quality improvement projects/dashboards, Skills Labs, and educational programs required. Mathematical/analytical ability required for time card system, meeting budget and capital preparatory and approval processes, and calculation of drug dosages, statistical analyses and other presentational/operational activities.
